OnePlus has released a new version of OxygenOS for its OnePlus X device. This community build is based on Android Marshmallow. In addition, the update includes other improvements, including the August security updates.

This means that the devices with OxygenOS 3.1.0 are also brought to the latest patch level. OnePlus X users have been waiting for the Marshmallow update for quite some time now. In a message, OnePlus says that the update contains Android 6.0.1, in addition to new icons and a different tool to select wallpapers. After the update it is also possible to rearrange the Shelf by long pressing the screen. In addition, the update brings new native Android permissions and introduces two new OnePlus apps in the form of a music player and a gallery.

OnePlus warns that the community build still contains some flaws. For example, users may experience issues with network stability and compatibility with third-party apps, among other things. The update and instructions are available on the OnePlus download page.

OnePlus released the cheaper X last year after the OnePlus 2. CEO Pete Lau announced in June that there will be no successor to the device. OnePlus would continue to support the device. The OnePlus 2 got an update to Marshmallow in June.
