OPPO shows a concept of a smartphone with a roll-out screen. The width of the device can therefore be adjusted, between 70mm and 107mm. The aspect ratio changes from 20: 9 to 16: 9.

In the smallest position the OPPO X 2021 a screen diagonal of 6.7 “and when rolled out it is 7.4”, says OPPO. According to the manufacturer, the concept device is equipped with a motorized mechanism with which the screen can be rolled out. The manufacturer calls this the Roll Motor Powertrain. Furthermore, the device is provided with a construction with two support panels, which keep the screen straight when extended. The protective layer on the OLED screen is only 0.1 mm thick, according to OPPO. That layer must be as thin as possible to be able to roll up the screen.

The Chinese manufacturer showed the device during his OPPO Inno Day, an event where the company shows concepts. There are no concrete plans to market the device with retractable screen.

At its event, OPPO also presented the AR Glass 2021, a new concept for ar glasses. The image seen by wearers corresponds to a 90-inch screen at a distance of three meters, OPPO says. The glasses have two cameras, a depth sensor and an RGB sensor. It is a successor to the model announced by the manufacturer last year and, according to OPPO, weighing 117 grams, the new version is 75 percent lighter than its predecessor.
