‘Nvidia MX150 for laptops is based on the same GPU as GT 1030 video card’

HP has announced the first laptop with an Nvidia MX150 GPU, while Nvidia has not yet released any information about that GPU. According to various indications, the MX150 is based on the GP108 GPU, just like the GT 1030 budget video card.

A changelog from Aida64 Extreme states that the latest beta is able to show information about the MX150. It is indicated that it is a GP108 GPU. The German website Golem also reports that the laptop video card is based on the GPU of the recently announced GT 1030.

HP presented a new Envy laptop on Monday, configurations of which appear with the Nvidia MX150. The laptop is a thin and light 13 “model and Nvidia probably makes the new GPU with that kind of laptop in mind. The MX150 is probably the first laptop GPU based on the Pascal architecture that can be used in such small laptops. The existing GTX 1050 for laptops and higher positioned models have a higher consumption and therefore generate more heat.

The GP108-300 GPU in the GT 1030 desktop graphics card has 384 cudacores, has a 64-bit memory bus and is combined with 2GB gddr5. The boost clock is set to 1468MHz and the TDP is 30 watts. Nvidia may adjust the specifications of the MX150 variant for laptops slightly to further reduce consumption, but details about this have not yet been announced.

HP will release its Envy laptop with MX150 GPU in July in the Benelux. What the price will be for the model with the graphics card is not yet known. More manufacturers will probably soon announce laptops with the new Nvidia GPU.
