An unannounced GeForce RTX 4080 Super video card from Nvidia has appeared in the PCI ID Repository. This video card is said to have an AD103 GPU. Rumors have been going around for some time about the arrival of an RTX 4080 Super, in addition to an RTX 4070 Super.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super recently appeared in the PCI ID databasenoticed tech website VideoCardz on. The listing shows that the video card will have an AD103 GPU. That is the chip that is also used in the regular RTX 4080, which Nvidia released last year.

The Super variant may get slightly more CUDA cores, although this is not mentioned in the PCI ID Repository. Nvidia previously did something similar in the GeForce RTX 20 series. The company then released an RTX 2080 Super with 3072 CUDA cores, compared to 2944 cores in the regular RTX 2080. In that case, both variants had a TU104 chip.

The listing also states that the RTX 4080 Super will have a device ID of 2703, which suggests that it is a desktop video card. The regular RTX 4080 desktop GPU has the device ID 2704, while the laptop graphics cards have higher numbers as IDs.

The PCI ID database is maintained by maintainers based on GPU drivers, in addition to individuals who can register GPUs based on leaks or their own knowledge. The RTX 4080 Super was submitted this time by T4CFantasy, the maintainer of the TechPowerUp GPU database. This user’s PCI ID listings have regularly proven correct in the past.

Rumors have been going around for some time about the arrival of a GeForce RTX 4080 Super, although the alleged specifications differ. Leakers previously stated that the video card would have an AD102 GPU, which is also used in the RTX 4090 for desktops. Reliable leaker kopite7kimi said this week that Nvidia is considering using an AD103 for the video card, among other things. Nvidia would also come with a GeForce RTX 4070 Super. It is not yet known when the two Super video cards will be released. VideoCardz sources do not expect any new video card releases from Nvidia this year.
