Finnish Nokia has acquired French wearables maker Withings. Withings makes analog watches with fitness tracking capabilities, among other things. Nokia pays 170 million euros for the company.

With the acquisition, Nokia wants to take a step in the market of ‘digital health products’, says the Finnish company. At the moment, the Finnish company mainly offers network services and products, but it makes a tablet, Android launcher and 360-degree camera, among other things.

Withings makes digital health products with internet connections, including bathroom scales, sleep tracking systems and watches. The French company has about two hundred employees, who will work at Nokia’s ‘Technologies’ division after the acquisition. The acquisition should be completed by the end of the summer.
