Hello Games released a free update for No Man’s Sky on Wednesday. After installing the update, a new expedition will be available, in which players will lose their progress if they die.

According to the developer, the latest expedition is unlike any other. In the Leviathan update, players find themselves in a time loop caused by a large space creature. This explains the roguelike elements that the update contains. To get out of this loop, players must complete the expedition without dying.

To last longer, the player collects upgrades during the expedition. Also, players can go out together so that they can make more progress and get stronger upgrades. The difficulty of the expedition is based on that of the Survival mode. In it, enemies are stronger and more aggressive. In addition, dying in that mode causes the player to lose some of his picked up objects.

The expedition will be available for the next six weeks, writes Hello Games.
