Nintendo will release the multiplayer option for iOS and Android game Mario Kart Tour next week. The company has announced that. The multiplayer beta has been running since December. Mario Kart Tour came out last fall.

The multiplayer feature will be online on Sunday night US time, reports Nintendo. That would be at five o’clock in the Benelux on Monday morning. There are three types of multiplayer; it is possible to race against others on phones that are close by, such as friends. Also random opponents are possible in regular races. In addition, there are Gold Races for customers with a paid subscription to the game.

The multiplayer beta started in December and lasted a week. That was only for customers paying for a Gold Pass. The free-to-play Mario Kart Tour is a mobile version of the existing Mario Kart series. The game came out in September. The multiplayer option has been visible in the interface since its release, but has not been clickable until now.
