Nintendo has announced the names of three new classic NES games that will be added to the library of its Switch Online service on May 15th. It concerns the titles Donkey Kong Jr., Clu Clu Land and VS. Excite bike.

The most famous ‘new’ game in the Switch Online range is Donkey Kong Jr. whose original version dates from 1982. In this game Junior has to free his father Donkey Kong who has been captured by Mario. That makes Donkey Kong Jr. the only computer game in which the Italian plumber is the villain.

From May 15, 1984 Clu CLu Land will also be included in the Switch Online catalog. In this puzzle game, the player is a fish who has to discover levels and collect golden objects that make up a picture. vs. Excitebike is the multiplayer version of the motocross game Excitebike. This 1984 game is not a real NES title, by the way, but an improved Famicom Disk System version of the NES game Excitebike.

With the addition of the three games, Switch Online’s catalog will soon include more than forty titles from the NES era. Earlier this year, Nintendo expanded the offering with the NES classics Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Blaster Master, Super Mario Bros 2 and Kirby’s Adventure. At the end of 2018, games such as Ninja Gaiden, Wario’s Woods and Adventures of Lolo were added to the catalog. Twenty other NES games, including The Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros and Donkey Kong, were already available when the service was released in September.
