Niantic has announced an event that will run from December 25 to January 3. During that time, players are more likely to receive recently added Pokémon from eggs. In addition, special Pikachu can be caught for a longer period of time.

Niantic says players will receive an incubator every day during the event when they first visit a Pokéstop. This can be used once. In addition, there is a higher chance of receiving eggs that contain second-generation Pokémon such as Togepi and Pichu on those visits. These were added to the game last week.

In a second event, which runs from December 30 to January 8, there is a higher chance of encountering starter Pokémon and their evolutions. Among them are Wartortle, Charizard and Venusaur, for example. In addition, to increase the chance of one of these beasts, the duration of a lure has been increased from half an hour to an hour, according to Niantic. The first time the company hosted an event in Pokémon Go was in October. Then the theme was Halloween.

Pokémon Go isn’t the only game to dedicate an event to the Holidays and New Year. For example, a winter theme has been introduced in the Blizzard shooter Overwatch with, among other things, new skins and items, which can be obtained via loot boxes. Similar actions can be found in other Blizzard games. For Battlefield 1, the holiday promotion includes new dog tags and play modes. Destiny and the recently released Planet Coaster mostly do it with themed items.
