The next game in the Assassin’s Creed series, slated for 2015, is set in Victorian London. The existence of the game came out through rumours. Ubisoft then confirmed via a statement that it is indeed a new Assassin’s Creed.

The existence of the project, which is currently known as Assassin’s Creed: Victory, came out on Tuesday through an article on Kotaku. The games website cites sources that are said to be close to the project and also has footage of the project. From the information and images Kotaku has, it becomes clear that Assassin’s Creed: Victory is set in London, during the Victorian era. The identity of the main character is not yet known.

A seven-minute video that would have been leaked to Kotaku would show, among other things, that the main character has a ‘grappling hook’ that allows him to move vertically. In addition, the images of Kotaku show how the assassin fights on a moving vehicle. The website cites these two elements as examples of how Ubisoft wants to innovate the gameplay. Also in the audiovisual field, Victory should provide another step forward. According to Kotaku, the footage they saw was shot entirely in the Anvil engine, using a reworked version of the engine used in Assassin’s Creed: Unity.

The project is led by Ubisoft Quebec, which is taking over from Ubisoft Montréal. Ubisoft also announced in the summer that Quebec would lead the development of the next Assassin’s Creed game. Ubisoft Quebec has worked on the Assassin’s Creed franchise before; the studio was responsible for the downloadable content packs The Tyranny of King Washington for Assassin’s Creed III and Freedom Cry for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

Ubisoft responded shortly after the leak of Assassin’s Creed: Victory’s existence that the company is disappointed that this information has come out because this is not the way how, and is not the time Ubisoft wanted the next Assassin’s Creed game to go public. to make. The publisher concluded its statement by stating that more information about the project will be revealed at a later date, and that in the meantime the company is focused on improving Assassin’s Creed: Unity.
