Netflix has started a small beta test for game streaming in Canada and the United Kingdom. Participants can stream two games on PCs and TVs. The company has long offered smartphone games that users can download.

‘A small number’ of users in the two countries possible from Monday stream games on Windows and Mac PCs via the browser and on TVs. Select LG and Samsung TVs, among others, work with this beta test, as well as Chromecast with Google TV and Nvidia Shield TV. When gaming on TVs, players can use their smartphone as a controller. On PCs, input is done with keyboard and mouse.

With this beta, Netflix wants to test the game streaming technology and controller. The company wants to enable game streaming on more devices in the future. During the test, players can play Oxenfree, a game from Netflix’s own game studio, and gem mining game Molehew’s Mining Adventure. In October last year, Netflix indicated that it was ‘seriously’ investigating cloud gaming for PCs and TVs.
