Netflix is ​​working on Tomb Raider animated series

Netflix is ​​working on an animated series based on the Tomb Raider franchise. The series will take on a Japanese anime style and, according to the streaming service, will capitalize on the recent reboot trilogy, which concluded with Shadow of the Tomb Raider from 2018.

The Tomb Raider anime is set after the events of the three recent Tomb Raider games, Netflix reports in a press release. The company is not yet reporting on the cast of the anime. For example, it is not clear whether Camilla Luddington, the voice actress of Lara Croft in the recent reboot trilogy, is collaborating on the project. Netflix has announced who will produce the anime.

Tasha Huo is collaborating on the animated series as a writer and executive producer. Huo is working on The Witcher: Blood Origin, a series that should also appear on Netflix. Dj2 Entertainment is also collaborating on the series. That company previously worked on the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Dj2 Entertainment also has a Sleeping Dogs movie and Disco Elysium and Life is Strange series in production. It is not yet clear when the Tomb Raider anime will be released.

Netflix has been releasing series based on games for some time now. In 2017, for example, a Castlevania anime already appeared on the streaming service. This year, a computer-animated Resident Evil series is due to be released on Netflix. In 2022, the upcoming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series will be released on the platform. Netflix is ​​also rumored to be working on a Splinter Cell anime in collaboration with Ubisoft. Those two companies are also working on a live-action series based on the Assassin’s Creed franchise. It is not yet clear when those series will appear.
