Cyan, the independent development studio behind Myst and Obduction, has announced a new game. The game will be called Firmament and will be playable with VR headsets. It is not yet clear for which platforms the game will appear.

Cyan has put a trailer and a website online about Firmament, but will not disclose any further details. According to the developer, it will be a steampunk adventure and the game is a “magical and monumental journey through four different worlds”.

The development studio behind the game made fame in the 1990s with adventure games Myst and Riven. Cyan launched a Kickstarter campaign for Obduction in 2013, which was to be seen as a spiritual successor to Myst. It raised more than $1.3 million and the game was released on Steam in 2016. A year later, the game came to the PlayStation 4. Obduction received support for VR headsets afterwards.

It is not yet known for which platforms Firmament will be released, but because the makers speak of a VR experience, it seems likely that the new game will be playable on the HTC Vive, the Oculus Rift and the PlayStation VR, just like Obduction.
