Mozilla has announced that it is working on a desktop browser for the ARM version of Windows 10. The browser should use the processors with ARM’s 64bit architecture to run as fast as possible.

Mozilla doesn’t disclose much about Firefox’s features for the ARM version of Windows 10, nor does it say when testing or the final release should come out. The browser builder does say that it works with Qualcomm, which is currently the only ARM supplier of socs for Windows 10 laptops.

Each tab in the browser will run on a separate processor core to optimize performance, but otherwise little is known about what the browser will offer and whether Mozilla will port all the features of the x86 version. There has been an Android version of Firefox for some time, but it runs in the virtual machine for Android apps.

The ARM version of Windows so far relies mainly on UWP apps that are in the Microsoft Store, because little software is specifically made for laptops with ARM processors. UWP apps run independently of the processor architecture.
