MMD releases Philips monitor with 32″-4k-144Hz panel and HDMI 2.1 for 899 euros

MMD introduces two Philips Momentum monitors aimed at gamers. There will be a new 31.5″ model with a 4k resolution, a refresh rate of 144Hz and two HDMI 2.1 connections. In addition, a 27″ FHD monitor with 240Hz panel will appear.

The Philips Momentum 32M1N5800A has a 31.5″ panel with a claimed response time of 1ms. This applies to both gray-to-gray response time and moving picture response time, or mprt. The display has a 4k resolution of 3840×2160 pixels, a refresh rate of 144Hz and Adaptive Sync support.The display uses an IPS-like panel with a stated contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a maximum brightness of 500cd/m².The display has a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification.

This means that the specifications are almost the same as those of the Philips Momentum 329M1, which MMD released last year. That screen has Ambilight lighting, three HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4 connection and a USB-C connection. The new model has no Ambilight or USB-C and has to make do with two HDMI 2.1 ports. The Momentum 32M1N5800A does have two DisplayPort 1.4 connections.

The screen has a metal base that is adjustable in height. The screen can also be tilted and rotated. MMD will release the monitor in March for a suggested retail price of 899 euros. At the time of writing, the screen is 100 euros cheaper than last year’s Ambilight version. Acer, AOC and Gigabyte previously released 4k-144Hz monitors with similar features, which are for sale for prices between 800 and 900 euros.

27″ FHD monitor with 240Hz panel for 419 euros

MMD also introduces the Philips 27M1N5200PA. That is a 27″ monitor with a 240Hz panel and a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. According to the manufacturer, it is a Fast IPS panel with an MPRT of 0.5ms and a gray-to-gray response time of 1ms. a maximum brightness of 400cd/m² and is on the same adjustable foot as the larger model. The 27″ screen is for sale for a suggested retail price of 419 euros.
