Microsoft will stop Windows 10 upgrade notifications on July 29th

Many users who consciously choose to continue using Windows 7 or 8.1 complain about the upgrade notifications caused by the Get Windows 10 app. In a statement to Winbeta, Microsoft confirmed that the app will be disabled and removed from systems on July 29.

Along with the release of Windows 10, Microsoft released the upgrade application for systems running Windows 7 and 8.1. Users of these Windows versions often see a pop-up with the advice to switch to Windows 10. Since the beginning of this year, Microsoft has marked the upgrade to Windows 10 as a recommended update, which is automatically installed on many systems.

With the release of Windows 10, Microsoft announced that users of Windows 7 and 8.1 can use the option to update to Windows 10 for free for a year. That period ends on July 29, 2016. If you want to upgrade a system with Windows 7 or 8.1 from that date, you have to pay. In the US, the upgrade to Windows 10 Home will cost $119. A euro price is not yet known.
