Microsoft introduced a bug with a Windows 7 update that prevented the stretch function of wallpapers from working properly. The company said it would come up with a fix for paying users, but now appears to be coming back and fixing it for all users.

On the support page for update KB4534310, which came out on January 14, Microsoft posted a brief statement stating that the company is working on a fix and will provide an update in an upcoming release. It will be available to all customers running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. It is unknown on what basis Microsoft will return to its earlier position and when exactly the new update will be released.

Update KB4534310 was released on January 14, which was the last day the Windows 7 operating system received regular mainstream support. As a result, it seemed that the bug would not be fixed. Only for paying Windows 7 users with Extended Security Updates there would be a solution. This concerns organizations and countries that have transferred their Windows 7 computers to the ESU program. A number of workarounds were available for non-paying users, such as the wallpaper functions fill, fit, tile and center.
