Microsoft will release a Windows 10X emulator on Tuesday. It is intended for developers so that they can develop and test apps for the new operating system. Windows 10X is for dual screen devices and foldable PCs.

Microsoft announces the emulator in a blog and has put the software with accompanying tools online. According to Microsoft, the emulator that comes out on Tuesday is an early version and is regularly updated, as are the Insider builds of Windows.

Late last year, Microsoft announced Windows 10X as the operating system of the Surface Neo; a device with two 9″ screens. The operating system should also find its way to Dell and Lenovo devices that have a folding OLED screen.

Microsoft has also released a new version of its Surface Duo SDK. The update adds support for macOS and Linux, among other things. Developers can use the SDK to make their Android apps ready for use with two screens. Microsoft already released a first version of this SDK in January. The software was announced during the Microsoft 365 Developer Day. The accompanying presentations can be followed online.
