Microsoft has re-released the patches for Exchange Server. These patches were released last week during Patch Tuesday, but turned out to cause problems on non-English operating systems that caused Exchange to no longer work properly.

It’s about the Exchange Server Security Updates which Microsoft released on August 8 during the monthly patch round Patch Tuesday. Company now writes in a support document that it will release it again, but without the problems that arose earlier. Microsoft renames the old patch Aug SUv1 and the new Aug SUv2. Exchange Server administrators should install it if they previously had problems with SUv1. For servers where installation is automatic and no issues are detected, SUv2 is automatically downloaded for administrators to install.

During the previous patch round, it turned out that there was already a serious problem in SUv1. This happens on Exchange Server systems that were running a non-English operating system. On those systems, the set-up appeared to stop unexpectedly in many cases. As a result, it was no longer possible to use Exchange.

Microsoft says the patch fixes the localization issues. The company had previously described a workaround that rolled back the incorrect update. Administrators should still install the new release, Microsoft writes.
