Microsoft Outlook is facing bug that automatically deletes emails

There is a bug in Microsoft Outlook that causes some email accounts to delete emails by mistake. This happens with email accounts configured with pop. Earlier this month Outlook also had problems.

The problems are in the Outlook 365 app with version number 2006 and build number 13001.20266, where the problems also occur with newer versions of the email program. Microsoft warns that email accounts that use the pop protocol may encounter an error that will cause “three or more emails” to be deleted. By the way, this only happens to users who have enabled the Download Headers Only option. Those who download their e-mails via imap or Exchange do not seem to be bothered by the problems.

Microsoft is still investigating the bug, but a workaround has already been published on the support page to revert to an earlier version of the Outlook software. It is not yet clear when a software update will be released to solve the problem.

The company already discovered the bug earlier this month. Microsoft also reported an issue with a crash in Outlook caused by a recently implemented update. It is unclear whether the two problems are related.
