Microsoft announced a new productivity app on Tuesday: Microsoft Loop. At first glance, the productivity app looks a lot like Notion and offers the possibility to collaborate more efficiently with others.

In the announcement, Microsoft lists the most important elements. Loop consists of three parts: Loop components, Loop pages and Loop workspaces. Loop connects to other Microsoft 365 apps such as Teams, Outlook, and OneNote.

Loop components are not only available in Loop, but should be able to be displayed in various Microsoft apps. Microsoft mentions lists, tables and tasks as examples of components. These items should always be the same version everywhere, so you can collaborate live with others and not worry about getting the latest version.

Then there are the Loop pages that do exist within Loop. The previously mentioned components can be accommodated here and put in an overview. According to Microsoft, these pages can, for example, be used to work on a project and form a central place to use ideas and where progress can be tracked.

Finally, there are Loop workspaces in which different pages can be accommodated. A workspace can be created for a project or team to facilitate collaboration.

It is not yet known when Loop will be available. This should be announced in the ‘coming months’. The Loop components are planned to be available this month for a number of Microsoft apps, including Teams, Outlook and OneNote.
