PC equipment manufacturer Medion has added a high-end computer to its range of desktop systems. The Akoya PC X7704 D has a black and red housing and comes with a Core i7 and GeForce GTX285.

Medion has been trying to gain a foothold in the market for notebooks, netbooks and navigation systems in recent years. However, the manufacturer has not lost sight of the desktop market, according to the release of the Akoya PC X7704 D. The system has a Core i7 860, which runs at 2.8GHz, and 8GB DDR3 memory, which is built from four 2GB modules. The graphics card is a GTX285 from Nvidia and there is a 5400rpm 1.5TB hard drive.

Furthermore, Medion has added an optical drive that can read Blu-rays and read and burn DVDs. The model does not have any special specifications: there are eight USB 2.0 ports, a firewire interface, two PS/2 connections and a gigabit Ethernet connection. Also, a 4-in-1 card reader and 7.1 audio output are not missing.

The manufacturer supplies the model with the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed. It seems that Medion only sells the model through its own webshop to sell and then for a limited period of two months. The new Akoya should cost 1,300 euros.
