MediaTek announces Helio G85 soc

MediaTek has presented its Helio G85 soc. It is a soc for midrange smartphones with a focus on gaming. The GPU in the soc has a clock speed of 1GHz, which is higher than in many other socs.

The GPU in question is an ARM Mali G52, which falls under many other GPUs in the ARM line-up. The G80 has the same GPU, but at 950MHz. The soc also has two Cortex A75 cores at 2GHz and six A55 cores at 1.8GHz. This puts it between the previously presented G80 and G90.

The soc is intended for midrange smartphones, MediaTek says. The soc can support cameras up to a maximum resolution of 48 megapixels. Phones with the soc can support dualsim on 4g, but there is no support for 5g. Phones with a Helio G90 soc include the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 9 and Realme 6.
