Fast food chain McDonald’s will start on Wednesday with a test, in which customers can place and pay for their order remotely via an app. The app keeps track of when the customer comes close, so that the order is ready exactly on time. The app is not coming to the Benelux for the time being.

The app should ensure that customers have their food faster and therefore the customer experience should be better, according to the fast food chain, according to Reuters news agency. The test begins Wednesday in two cities in the US state of California. The position should be available in seven countries before the end of the year, but countries in the Benelux are not among them. In addition to the United States, these include Canada, Australia, China, the United Kingdom, France and Germany.

It is unknown through which systems customers can pay in the app. The order only goes to the kitchen after payment. By tracking the location, the app determines which branches are closest when placing an order. In a later version, customers can choose whether they pick up the order inside or do so via the McDrive.

It is obvious that the fast food chain will also enable mobile orders in other countries in the future. Other hospitality chains have had mobile ordering systems for some time, although McDonald’s is one of the few that uses location tracking to get the order ready at the right time.
