Mark Gurman claims Apple is testing an unannounced laptop. The tech journalist was able to view Apple logs showing that the laptop runs macOS 14 and has a larger screen than the 13.3″ version of the MacBook Air.

According to Gurman the laptop has a CPU with eight computing cores and a GPU with ten cores. The CPU contained four faster and four more efficient computing cores, which corresponds to the number of computing cores of the M2 chipset that Apple introduced in June 2022. According to the journalist, the not yet announced device had 8GB of RAM available and was codenamed Mac 15.3.

Gurman was also able to determine which operating system was present on the laptop, which was reportedly macOS 14, a version that Apple has not yet officially announced. The most recent version of the operating system is macOS 13, or macOS Ventura. The laptop would have the same screen resolution as a 14-inch MacBook Pro, namely 3024 by 1964 pixels.

Gurman reports that Apple is planning an update for the 14″ and 16″ models of the Macbook Pro. According to the journalist, they will be refreshed in the spring of 2024. The American company is also said to be working on an update for the MacBook Air, the iMac and the MacBook Pro with a 13-inch screen. Apple is also said to still be working on a new Mac Pro that only runs on Apple Silicon.

Mark Gurman’s claims are in line with previous rumors about a MacBook Air with a 15.5″ screen. Display Supply Chain Consultants analyst Ross Young reported earlier this year that Apple had started mass production of MacBook Air screens of 15. .5 inch. TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also confirmed the rumors of a new MacBook Air. Gurman has been predicting the arrival of this laptop since the summer of 2022.
