Logitech will release a software upgrade to its Hero sensor for mice for free on Tuesday. The upgrade increases the maximum sensitivity from 16,000dpi to 25,600dpi on a range of the company’s mice.

Users will receive the upgrade if they have installed Logitech’s G Hub software and update it to the latest version. Mice with the Hero sensor then have a maximum sensitivity of 25,600 dpi instead of 16,000 dpi. The company does not provide details about how the sensitivity can be increased via the software update. The higher dpi value is available for the following mice, according to Logitech:

Logitech introduced the Hero sensor in 2016, then with a maximum dpi of 12,000. In 2018, the 16K variant of the Hero appeared with the arrival of the G502 Hero mouse. According to the company, Hero stands for High Efficiency Rated Optical and the company now refers to the sensor under the heading Hero 25K instead of Hero 16K. According to the company, despite its higher maximum dpi, the sensor is still ten times more energy efficient than its Logitech G sensors. Last year, Logitech introduced new versions of its G903, G703 and G403 mice, which feature the Hero sensor.
