Lexar comes with external SL200 SSD with USB-C connection

Lexar has announced a new series of external SSDs. This concerns the SL200, which according to a press release will be available in variants with 512GB and 1TB of storage capacity. The Lexar website also mentions a 2TB model.

The Lexar SL200 has a USB-c connection with a USB 3.1 interface, although it is not made clear which generation that is. It is probably a USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface with throughput speeds of up to 5Gbit/s. According to the manufacturer, the SSD itself achieves read and write speeds of up to 550MB/s and 400MB/s respectively.

The SL200 is also resistant to drops, shocks and vibrations. The product also supports 256-bit AES encryption. The dimensions are 86x60x9.5mm and the SSD weighs 40.6 grams without cable.

The versions with 512GB and 1TB of storage capacity will cost 90 and 160 dollars respectively. Converted and with VAT, that comes down to 97 and 172.50 euros. Official European suggested retail prices are not yet known. It is also not yet clear what the possible 2TB variant will cost.
