Lenovo equips ThinkPad laptops with USB-C power connector and webcam slide

Lenovo has announced the 2018 line of its ThinkPad X, T and L laptops. All models have a universal USB-C connection for the power supply. Some laptops contain a slide for the web camera as standard.

All this year’s ThinkPads will also receive an 8th-generation Intel Core processor. Lenovo is not yet announcing a new X1 Carbon, but more announcements may follow at the start of the CES fair next week. With a thickness of 17.4mm, the 2018 ThinkPad X280 is 15 percent thinner than last year and the weight of 1.18 kilograms is 20 percent less than the 2017 model. The laptop has a touch-sensitive 12.5″ screen with 1080p resolution. Thanks to Rapid Charge, the laptop can be charged to 80 percent of its capacity in an hour. The starting price is $ 999 in the US, converted and with VAT that is about 1000 euros. The ThinkPad X380 Yoga is a 13 .3″ convertible that Lenovo provides with stylus and infrared camera for Windows Hello, for $1459.

The ThinkPad T580 is a 15.6″ laptop equipped with a 1080p, 1440p or 2160p screen. An Nvidia GeForce MX150 is optionally available to drive the screen. This laptop has up to 2TB SSD storage, or 1TB if it is a pci-e variant, the battery life would be up to 27 hours, the manufacturer claims, measured when running BAPCo MobileMark 2014. This model comes standard with Windows Hello support, a fingerprint reader and the ThinkShutter webcam slider. Lenovo already tested the reactions to this thin webcam cover on Reddit last month, and the T580 is priced at $1079.

The T480, with 14″ screen, also contains the ThinkShutter. The laptop has up to 32GB of ram, 1TB SSD storage and a screen with a resolution of up to 1440p. The thickness is 20mm and the weight is 1.6 kilograms. is $989. There is also an s-version of the T480, which is a bit thinner at 18mm and also has a lower weight: 1.3 kilograms.This model has a starting price of $1269.

The L380 appears in the cheaper L-series of ThinkPads. It has a 13.3″ touchscreen with 1080p. As far as storage is concerned, there is a maximum of 512GB m2 SSD. The starting price is $609. There is also a $400 more expensive Yoga variant of this laptop, whose screen is The 14″-L480 and 15.6″-L580 come in different versions, the latter optionally with AMD Radeon 530 and 2TB of HDD storage.

Lenovo also releases the Tablet 10 for business use. The manufacturer provides it with an Intel Celeron N-soc, a fingerprint reader and a RPM module. The stylus can be placed in the housing and is rechargeable. The price of the tablet is not yet known.

Finally, there are the ThinkVision P32u and X24 IPS monitors. The ThinkVision X24 is a 23.9″ model with 4mm wide bezels that will be released in January for $249. The aforementioned P32u shows the uhd resolution and has Thunderbolt 3 for daisy chaining. This virtually edgeless model will arrive in March. for $1349.
