Lego is releasing a set containing a scale model of the space shuttle Discovery and the Hubble space telescope. The model of the space shuttle is more than 55 centimeters long and the 180 euro set consists of 2354 pieces.

The set includes a model of space shuttle Discovery with functional landing gear and payload bay doors that open and close. The included model of the Hubble telescope can be folded to fit into the space shuttle. After assembling all the pieces, the model has dimensions of 21.78×34.60×55.46cm.

Lego provides the set with two stands and nameplates, detailing space shuttle Discovery and the acclaimed space telescope. The space shuttle is then indicated with the mission name STS-31. That was the mission that NASA sent Hubble into space in April 1990, aboard Discovery.

Last year, Lego already released a scale model of the International Space Station, consisting of 864 pieces. This also included a space shuttle, but due to the size of the space station, it was a tiny scale model.

The new space shuttle set also contains more pieces than the Lego version of NASA’s Apollo Saturn V rocket, which consists of 1969 pieces. This makes the Discovery shuttle the most comprehensive NASA Lego set to date. The set is for sale from April 1 for a suggested retail price of 180 euros.
