League of Legends: Wild Rift, a simplified version of League of Legends intended for smartphones, will be playable December 10 in Europe. It was already clear that the game would be out here in December, but a date was still unknown.

The version available for play from December 10 is another open beta of Wild Rift. Those interested can already sign up for the Android version, but the game will also be available through the App Store. Ultimately, League of Legends: Wild Rift should also be released on consoles. It is still unknown when they will be due.

The game is basically a mobile version of the League of Legends PC game. It’s all about the same 5v5 battles and the playing field is also very similar. In League of Legends there are about 150 different playable champions, while in Wild Rift there will be more than 40. According to the developer, Wild Rift was built from the ground up and therefore not a direct port of the PC version.

The game is free to download and play. The earnings model here is also that money can optionally be spent via microtransactions, for example for the purchase of skins. That is also the earnings model of the PC game League of Legends. According to research firm SuperData, developer Riot Games earned an estimated $ 1.5 billion in 2019.
