Death Stranding 2: On the Beach should be released for the PlayStation 5 in 2025, game maker Hideo Koijma said. He also shares an extensive trailer of the game. Kojima also announces that he is working on an ‘action spy game’ commissioned by Sony.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, like its predecessor, will be a story-driven open-world action game set in a post-apocalyptic world starring Sam Porter Bridges, played by Norman Reedus. The almost ten-minute trailer, which was shown during Sony’s State of Play presentation, shows that the game also takes place outside the US this time.

In the first game, players mainly had to deliver packages, but that no longer seems to be the case. Robots are now responsible for delivery, the trailer says. The antagonist from the first game, Higgs Monaghan, played by Troy Baker, also makes an appearance. The game is published by Sony and should be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 next year.

Koijma late during the same presentation that he is also working on another game in collaboration with Sony. It is an ‘action spy’ game codenamed Physint. That is a genre that Koijma is very familiar with, as the game maker has worked with Konami for years on the spy game series Metal Gear Solid. However, Physint will not be part of an existing series. Development of the game has only just begun. Only after the release of Death Stranding 2 will the game go into full production.

In addition to these games, Kojima is also working on game project OD. Little is known about it, except that it is being developed under Xbox Game Studios and made in Unreal Engine. Finally, Koijma is also working on a film based on the Death Stranding series.
