The glass on the back of the iPhone 15 Pro Max broke during the durability test of YouTube channel JerryRigEverything. According to the YouTuber, this is exceptional. However, the titanium casing survived the test.

The original iPhone 15 Pro survives the bending test unscathed, while the back glass of the iPhone 15 Pro Max quickly breaks. JerryRigEverything says to be surprised by this result. He claims that most phones won’t break in this test, and iPhones in particular would normally be very durable.

Why the glass broke so quickly is also unclear to JerryRigEverything, especially because the glass of the iPhone 15 Pro remained intact. Incidentally, the underlying frame, which is made of titanium, survived the test. So there is no damage internally. Moreover, the glass can be replaced, which costs about 200 euros.

Previously there was by AppleTrack a drop test was carried out on the iPhone 15 Pro. It was concluded that the new phone breaks faster than the iPhone 14 Pro. While the latter still had a functional display at the end of the tests, the iPhone 15 Pro was no longer usable. 9to5Mac blames this to the titanium frame of the new phone. The stainless steel of the iPhone 14 would work better as a shock absorber, while titanium is a bit stiffer and the fall impact is therefore less well distributed over the entire frame.
