IPs Saints Row and Red Faction are acquired by Plaion

The Saints Row and Red Faction IPs from development studio Volition Studios will be acquired by developer and publisher Plaion from Embracer Group. The future of the franchises has not yet been clarified.

The fact that both intellectual properties will be transferred to Plaion was confirmed by the publisher itself on Twitter/X. It did not yet provide any further details about the future of the intellectual properties.

This week it was announced that Volition Studios, the development studio behind Saints Row and Red Faction, had to close its doors. That decision was made by parent company Embracer Group. Volition Studios’ most recent game was Saints Row from 2022. That game would not have achieved the desired results commercially. Embracer Group also took a financial hit early this year.
