Intel will provide a Core i7 and two Core i5s with GT4e GPUs with the end-of-life stamp next summer. The desktop quadcores with Intel’s most powerful GPU to date were announced in May. It is not known whether there will be new desktop processors with GT4e GPUs.

Intel has incorporated the end-of-life announcement of the Core i5-6585R, Core i5-6685R and Core i7-6785R into a Product Change Notification. The Skylake-R processors can still be ordered until the summer of 2017, but the phase-out started with the start of the Product Discontinuance Program Support on December 5. They are the only Core processors for the desktop with the Iris Pro 580, or GT4e, that Intel has released to date. They are intended for all-in-ones and mini PCs and must be soldered to the motherboard.

The GPU of the chips offers 72 execution units compared to 48 EUs for the GT3, Intel’s previously most powerful video chip. In addition, 128MB of edram is present, indicated by the e-suffix in GT4e, compared to 64MB that the GT3 can be equipped with. It is not known whether the Skylake-R line will receive a successor with the Kaby Lake generation. The first batch of Kaby Lake chips for the desktop do not contain R models and they have not yet been mentioned in rumors.

Intel processes the Iris Pro 580 in four Skylake quad-cores for laptops that were announced at the beginning of this year. In addition, there is a Xeon processor with this gpu.
