Three of the upcoming Intel Alder Lake-HX laptop CPUs will get vPro support, and the i9 variants will get a 5GHz boost clock. This is evident from leaked specs of the CPU in the new generation of Dell Precision 7770 and 7670 laptops. The specs confirm previous rumors.

That writes the Chinese tech site ITHome. Most of the specs of the Intel Alder Lake-HX laptop chips had already appeared online on Geekbench, but the new information confirms the specs and provides more details. Three variants will receive support for vPro, technology aimed at remote management and secure work environments. The i9 variants get boost clock speeds of up to 5GHz.

The Dell Precision 7770 and 7670 can be equipped with i5, i7 and i9 variants of the Alder Lake-HX chips. These newer Alder Lake CPUs have more cores and threads than the current generation. Current Alder Lake laptop models have up to 14 cores and 20 threads. According to ITHome, the Dell ships with one of the CPUs listed in the table below.

Processor cores/threads Boost Clock Speed vPro?
i5-12600HX 12C/16T Up to 4.6GHz Yes
i7-12800HX 16C/24T Up to 4.8GHz no
i7-12850HX 16C/24T Up to 4.8GHz Yes
i9-12900HX 16C/24T Up to 5GHz no
i9-12950HX 16C/24T Up to 5GHz Yes

The Alder Lake-HX processors come with eight Performance cores and eight Efficiency cores. That is more cores than the existing Alder Lake-H laptop processors, which come with a maximum of six P-cores and eight E-cores. The new HX chips will therefore have a higher tdp of 55W. The list of Alder Lake-HX CPUs isn’t as long as said in previous leaks, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t more HX processors. Dell may simply opt for these five configurations.

ITHome writes that the Dell laptops are also equipped with five possible video cards: the RTX A1000 4GB, RTX A3000 12GB, RTX A4500 16GB, RTX A5500 16GB or RTX 3080Ti 16GB. Users can choose up to 128GB DDR5-3600 or 64GB DDR5-4800 memory, in the form of Dell’s proprietary CAMM modules. These are more compact than regular DIMMs. The Precision 7770 comes with a 17.3″-4k OLED screen and the 7670 with a 16″-4k OLED screen, ITHome says. It is not yet known when Dell will announce the new generation of Precision laptops.
