Instagram Stories get ads

There will be ads in Instagram Stories. The company has announced that. The feature, in which users combine a series of images from a day, has been in existence for five months and has 150 million active users, according to the service.

These are full-screen ads, says Instagram. The ads appear as posts between contacts’ stories and users can skip them in the same way as regular stories. At the bottom of the screen it says ‘Sponsored’ in light letters to indicate that it is an advertisement.

According to Instagram, about 70 percent of videos have sound on, so it expects many advertisers to produce the videos using sound. Advertisers can target the videos to the target audience.

It is not the first time that advertisements have appeared on the image-oriented social network. Since 2013, ads have been visible in users’ regular timeline.
