Instagram is getting a new feature called Stories. It allows users to share different photos in a collection, which disappears after 24 hours. The new feature is similar to Snapchat’s feature of the same name, Instagram also admits.

According to Instagram, thanks to Stories, users don’t have to worry about posting too much anymore. The feature bundles all the photos and videos taken within a day into a single story, which does not appear on the user’s profile, but can only be seen temporarily on the timeline. After a period of 24 hours, the album disappears.

Kevin Systrom, the CEO of Instagram, admits in an interview with Techcrunch that the concept was copied from Snapchat. That app also has a Stories function that works similarly. According to Systrom, it’s not about who came up with the idea, but how a network deploys it and gives it its own twist.

The arrival of Stories is announced by Instagram in a blog. It states that users worldwide will have access to the functionality in the apps on iOS and Android in the coming weeks.
