The M1 Pro and M1 Max chips from the MacBook Pro 2021 are also rumored to be coming to the 27-inch iMac Pro 2022. But there are more rumors: we’ve listed them for you.

iMac Pro 2022: A New Kind of Pro

Where the previous iMac Pro was a completely different kind of machine than its ‘regular’ brother, with a corresponding price tag of € 5,499 to no less than € 62,419, the upcoming iMac Pro is probably a bit closer to the normal model.

According to Apple leaker Dylandkt, the next iMac Pro will mainly be a replacement for the current 27-inch model, and not so much the old Pro. The expected price tag matches this: slightly above the € 1,999 of the current large iMac.

New features

The 27-inch iMac Pro will be a significant upgrade over the current Intel iMac. According to Dylandkt, it will receive the same screen technology as the MacBook Pro 2021. That means a mini-LED screen with better brightness and contrast, and support for 120 hertz refresh rate with ProMotion.

In addition, the new model gets the same M1 Pro and M1 Max chips from the MacBook Pro. This greatly improves performance, while reducing consumption and fan noise. In addition, the larger iMac gets support for iOS apps for the first time and no loading time when waking from sleep.

The new iMac Pro is also the same as the new MacBook Pro in terms of ports: multiple USB-C ports, an SD card reader and HDMI. And in terms of design, the new iMac looks like the 24-inch model with M1 chip, but with dark screen edges.

Release iMac Pro 2022

The new iMac Pro is expected to be released in the first half of 2022. Development was rumored to have been halted last year so that Apple’s Mac department could work on the 24-inch model. Development started again with the introduction of this smaller model.
