Huawei comes with a 40W power bank and wireless earphones that can be paired via USB-C
In addition to the P30 smartphones, Huawei announced a few new accessories on Tuesday. The most striking are the Huawei FreeLace, wireless earphones that no longer need to be paired via bluetooth, and a power bank with which a laptop can be charged.
At first glance, the new Huawei FreeLace headphones look like an ordinary pair of earphones with a neckband. What is special, however, is that you can disconnect the right earplug from the controller on the cable, so that a USB-c connector appears. When the user plugs it into a Huawei smartphone, the headset will be paired automatically. Searching for a Bluetooth device is no longer necessary in this way, which, according to the Chinese manufacturer, provides extra ease of use. The new pairing method, dubbed Hi-Pair by Huawei, does require a smartphone with EMUI 9.1. For the time being, this only applies to the new Huawei P30 series, which was presented in Paris on Tuesday.
Other features of the FreeLace earphones are the 9.2mm drivers, the autonomy of eighteen hours and a standby period of twelve days. Charging is also very fast, according to Huawei; after five minutes it would be possible to listen to music again for four hours. The Huawei FreeLace will have a suggested retail price of 99 euros and will be available from mid-April.
At the press event in Paris, Huawei also presented the SuperCharge Power Bank, a mobile 12,400mAh battery with an output power of 40W. With this power, the device is not only suitable for refueling a smartphone, tablet or smartwatch, but can also be used to charge a notebook on-the-go. Because the SuperCharge supports both 40W output and 40W input, the power bank itself can also be quickly charged. According to Huawei, a full charge takes 2 hours and 14 minutes, while a 10W power bank would take 5 hours and 25 minutes. The gadget has a USB-A output and a USB-C port that serves as an input and an output. For example, a notebook with a USB-C charging port can also be charged via this connection, such as a recent MacBook.
The Huawei SuperCharge Power Bank will be available from May and will also have a suggested retail price of 99 euros.
