HP has been discussing a merger with EMC, a company that specializes in large-scale data storage and virtualization. However, the talks would have ended, making it unclear whether the takeover has been completed

The talks are said to have ended due to multiple ‘difficulties’, including financial conditions, The New York Times reported. It is unknown if the talks have finally come to an end, or if they have been suspended.

The talks were about an equal merger, which would create a giant technology company, but it is unclear whether that will continue. The talks come at a time when HP is firing tens of thousands of people, while EMC is troubled by activist shareholders. EMC owns VMware, a company that provides virtualization software, as well as security company RSA.
