HP introduces ZBook 2-in-1 with i7 quadcore and Nvidia Quadro GPU

HP has introduced the ZBook x2, a 2-in-1 specifically aimed at professional designers. HP sees it as a workstation. An Nvidia Quadro M620 GPU has been added and there is a choice of five CPUs, including two mobile i7 Kaby Lake R CPUs from Intel.

The convertible features a matte 14″ IPS touchscreen that supports 10-bit color and has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. The screen is factory calibrated and can display 100 percent of the Adobe RGB color space. A stylus is used. supported and included as standard; the pen can recognize over 4000 pressure levels, recognizes the angle at which it is drawn and has an ‘erase button’ on top of the pen. The stylus uses Wacom’s EMR technology instead of bluetooth; the pen never has to be In dock mode, the ZBook x2 is capable of driving two external 4K displays, or a total of five monitors at lower resolutions.

Under the hood, you can choose from five different mobile CPUs, including three from Intel’s Kaby Lake R generation. It concerns the i5-8250U, i7-8550U and the i7-8650U. Furthermore, there is 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and for storage you can choose a SATA SSD of 128 or 512GB. In addition, an HP Z Turbo Drive PCI-e SSD of 256GB can be built-in, which according to HP is four times faster than a regular SSD. The convertible can also have a PCI-e NVME SSD of up to 2TB. The Nvidia Quadro M620 GPU is built into the tablet area, where there are also two fans that suck air through grilles in the side and blow it out of the tablet again at the top.

The ZBook x2 has a kickstand, a smart card reader, a port for an SD card and has a keyboard with backlight. There is also an HDMI 1.4 connection, a USB 3.0 port and two USB 3.1 type-c connections with support for Thunderbolt 3. The device weighs 2.17 kg including keyboard and a fingerprint scanner is present. The ZBook x2 should be available from December, for prices starting from 1949 euros. Further specific prices per configuration are not yet known.
