Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft has 30 million players
According to developer Blizzard Entertainment, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft now has 30 million players. It is not known how many of those players are active. The 20 million player mark was reached in September.
Blizzard reports the milestone via a festive tweet. Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft has 30 million players, according to the tweet. It is not known how many of those 30 million players are actively playing the game. In addition, Blizzard will not let go of how much of those players spend money on the game. The free-to-play virtual card game officially appeared in March 2014 and Blizzard makes money from microtransactions.
The number of Hearthstone players is steadily increasing. In September, Blizzard reported that the 20 million player mark had been reached. The growth may be due to the studio continuing to expand the game. For example, in March expansion Blackrock Mountains appeared. In addition, the game was released for smartphones in April. Until then, the card game could only be played via PC or tablets.
