The hearing to consider the US extradition request of former Megaupload director Kim Dotcom has been postponed again. The hearing is now scheduled for February 16, 2015. The case has been pending since January 2012 after a raid on his home in New Zealand.

Kim Dotcom is seen by the Americans as one of the people responsible for large-scale copyright violations with the former cyberlocker site Megaupload. After his arrest in 2012, Dotcom was released on bail, after which the extradition request was due to be heard in March 2013. However, this was postponed and a second date, in April of this year, also proved unfeasible.

Dotcom’s case won’t be heard until next year, so reports the internet entrepreneur on Twitter. The date has been set for February 16, 2015. A reason why the trial was again postponed was not given by the court.

Kim Dotcom has also been sued by the entertainment industry in a number of civil lawsuits in the US. According to a film studio, the entertainment industry has lost more than 500 million dollars, or 367 million euros, because of its activities. Dotcom, who will participate in the elections in New Zealand on September 20, believes that the civil cases indicate that the criminal case against him is no longer feasible. He also says that he has still not received a copy from the FBI of data seized in the 2012 raid.
