HBO will release the second season of The Last of Us in 2025

HBO confirms in a trailer for streaming service Max that the second season of The Last of Us will be released sometime in 2025. No further substantive details about the series can be gleaned from the trailer.

Because production of the season in question will not start until early 2024, there are in the trailer no new images from the television series can be seen, but only some shots from the first season. Previously, showrunner Craig Mazin announced that the second season will contain part of the story of The Last of Us: Part II. The story of the second game is therefore spread over several seasons.

In the same trailer, HBO Max, Warner Bros.’s bundled streaming service, shows. Discovery, which was renamed Max in most countries outside the Benelux, knows that the third season of The White Lotus and the IT prequel Welcome to Derry will also be released sometime in 2025.
