Google is releasing a number of new features for the Cast and sharing functionality in Android. This includes easier ways to share files with certain devices and an expansion of quick pairing of Bluetooth devices.

It’s about different features for Google Cast and other Android functionality. Google will merge its Nearby Share function with Samsung’s Quick Share function, among other things. Nearby Share will now continue as Quick Share. This will now become a standard feature in every Android and Chromebook device. The new Quick Share will then become a standard function when sharing images, for example. This allows users to search for nearby devices to share files. Google says it is also working with various manufacturers such as LG to make Quick Share standard on Windows PCs from now on.

Other new features include the extension of Fast Pair to Chromecast devices. Later, that feature should also become available on Google TVs. By integrating the function into Cast, it becomes possible to connect or switch the connection to new Bluetooth devices from any Chromecast device.

In addition, Google is working together to bring Chromecast functionality to more apps, including TikTok. It was previously announced that this happens with LG TVs. Furthermore, Android Auto is coming to several cars. In the future, electric cars will also be able to share battery information with Google Maps, making it easier to monitor the battery percentage during navigation.

Google also comes with a new output switcher for Android. That is the menu with which the volume can be adjusted. Output Switcher 2.0 makes it possible to switch sound between connected devices and volume controls are improved with a new UI. It becomes easier for Pixel devices to exchange media files with each other. Google is also adding an option for developers to show a “persistent Cast icon.” In addition, the Cast icon is always on screen when users want it, instead of happening dynamically when the user may not want it.
