Google integrates Cast function in Chrome

Google has announced that it is integrating the feature to cast content from Chrome to a Chromecast in the browser. Until now, a browser extension was required to use this functionality.

According to Google, the feature is present in version 51 of the Chrome browser. This can be reached via the drop-down menu on the right side of the browser screen. However, with this option, users can no longer manage settings such as bitrate and quality, as the system now automatically chooses the optimal setting.

The setting depends on the quality of the user’s home network. Google further states that there is no need to remove the existing browser extension. This is because it still offers quick access to the Cast functionality via the browser bar.

Using the feature, it is possible to display the contents of a tab or the entire desktop on a Chromecast-enabled device.
