Game service GOG has released a Connect feature that allows users to add games from their Steam account to the DRM-free service. Currently there are about twenty games that support the feature, but there should be more.

The games that support the feature must be available on both Steam and GOG. Users who now have the Steam version can add the game to their GOG library. Game publishers must cooperate and consent.

Currently, Deep Silver, Harebrained Schemes and TaleWorlds are participating. Gamers who own games including The Witness, FTL, Saints Row 2, Shadow Run Returns and The Witcher: Enhanced Edition on Steam can now get a DRM-free version of the game through GOG Connect. The games do not disappear from the Steam account of the users.

According to the service, games will be added to GOG Connect, but also disappear. It is only possible in certain periods to obtain the DRM-free version via the function. It is not clear how long these periods last.

GOG is a gaming service where purchased games do not contain DRM and installing a client is optional. All games can also be installed separately, after they have been downloaded via the browser. Originally, the service started under the name Good Old Games and old classics were sold.
