GitHub gives developers option to set up private sponsor repos

GitHub extends the Sponsors platform to allow sponsors to access private repositories. For example, users who support a developer can see and use exclusive repos, such as an early-access build of code.

The new feature is available to all users of GitHub Sponsors, both individual users and businesses. They can then grant their sponsors access to ‘Sponsors-only repositories’, writes GitHub. For each tier of sponsorship offered, users can make a separate repo available so that they can set up different levels of access. GitHub itself mentions as a user example that a sponsor gets access to unique projects, early access of builds before they become widely available and discussions for donors.

The platform also comes with a few other changes. This makes it possible to set a minimum amount for sponsors. Users can also set separate welcome messages for new donors and it will be possible to see where a sponsor comes from via utm codes in urls.
