The organization behind the gamescom in Cologne, which is to take place in August, will expand the live streaming parts of the game fair due to the corona pandemic. Whether the physical fair will continue will be determined in mid-May.

The organization of the fair and the people behind the Koelnmesse exhibition hall let it be known that this has been discussed with the largest exhibitors of the fair, which means that preparations for gamescom continue at full speed for the time being, despite the format being uncertain.

About the show’s ‘digital footprint’, the organization says it will be ‘significantly bigger, with more parts’. “We are already reaching millions of fans worldwide, so further expanding our digital strategy is now the best option,” Felix Falk, from the German umbrella organization Game, told GamesIndustry.biz.

If the physical fair is indeed canceled because the restrictions to contain the corona virus continue until August, people who have already bought a ticket and exhibitors will get their money back.
