DPG Media, VRT and Telenet have announced the Flemish streaming video service Streamz. The service offers two subscribers, one for series and Flemish films and one for series and international films.

A subscription to Streamz costs 11.95 euros per month and for that amount customers get access to Flemish films and series and to international series, including from HBO. In addition to that, there is Stream +, which also allows the customer to see recent international blockbusters. For this, users have to pay 19.95 euros per month.

Streamz + is said to be about 300 international films, in addition to the total of 1,000 titles available for the service. Among these, eleven new original titles and previews of series should appear this fall. Streamz wants to distinguish itself with its Flemish offer, from DPG Media, SBS and VRT. It was not yet known whether the latter party would participate. It was announced in mid-August that DPG Media and Telenet were going to introduce the Flemish video service under the name Streamz.

Streamz can be viewed on smartphones, tablets, PC and via a Chromecast, Apple TV and Android TV. The press releases and the Streamz site refer to ‘HD quality’, with the explanation that not all content will be shown in HD. A screenshot in the press release mentions ‘full-hd’. Four streams could be received simultaneously in that quality per subscription and the service offers the possibility to create five profiles and to download series and films to watch them offline. The Telenet site provides an overview of the upcoming series and previews. Streamz will be available from September 14th.

Streamz competes in Flanders with Disney +, which has a starting price of 6.99 euros per month, and Netflix, whose basic subscription costs 8.99 euros per month for a single screen and 11.99 euros per month for two screens.
